Frontgrid and Simworx announce new VR attraction

Industry newcomer Frontgrid has partnered with Simworx to create a world first VR attraction that will launch at EAS 2017.

ParadropVR is an IP protected, immersive, VR attraction that is designed to provide an immersive experience that realistically simulates the feeling of flying a paraglider. It features a smooth up and down motion, that incorporates sudden drops and smooth deceleration that is designed to make the rider feel as if they are actually soaring through the sky.

It features an interactive gaming element, where riders score points by flying through a series of targets as they descend back down to earth.

The ride is designed to be used in a wide range of venues including theme parks, destination attractions, FECs, cinemas and cruise ships. It also offers a number of different theming and content options and a modular design that provides high hourly capacity and low operating costs.

Matt Wells, co-founder and CEO of Frontgrid, says: “Our mission is to create iconic adventure experiences with strong brands and protectable IP, underpinned by disruptive, high growth, high return business models.”

Wells continues: “We are delighted to have partnered with Simworx to create the first of our experiences. And of course we are excited to be launching ParadropVR at this year’s EAS.”

EAS will take place between 24 and 28 September, with a press conference officially launching the ParadropVR ride on Wednesday 27 September.
